Congratulations!!!  You have found the love of your life. Today is the first day of the rest of your lives together. As exciting this day is, who is not looking forward to the end of the evening when you finally get to cut the cake?!

Every bride wants to “cut the cake”.   Although customs transform with the times, the wedding cake has remained a popular and meaningful wedding reception activity. Numerous of couples include the cake cutting during their reception.  It is a fabulous way to capture a symbolic photo of the couple’s first joint task as newlyweds. Find out below how to properly cut the cake on your “BIG” day.

This is how we cut it…

Even if you believe you are a pro at cutting cakes— birthday parties or entertaining—check with your cake baker or caterer for special instructions to cutting your cake. Please avoid placing the knife in the wrong spot.  Most tiered cakes have dowels in them for support. You could cause the delicate tower to topple over and your beautiful cake will become a crumble mess; if you cut the cake improperly. I recommend you cut this cake from the bottom. This might sound obvious, but remember to use the cake knife, not the server, for the quickest and cleanest cut. Do not forget to keep the knife clean to get that pro cut every time!

Smash it…

Open wide and prepare for the first bite; newlyweds frequently feed each other the first slice. Every now and again instead of getting cake in your mouth the cake is smashed into your face. You may feed each other cake; however, you want, but keep in mind—you do not have to smudge frosting on your new spouse merely because your guests anticipate it. You just spent money to get your hair and makeup plus you are probably both in expensive outfits—don’t risk any staining if you don’t want to. Either way, ask your baker or caterer to have napkins (or even a warm, damp cloth) close by to wipe up any rogue crumbs or frosting quickly.

Numerous of couples freeze their top layer; however, now-a-days couples are choosing to do away with this tradition. Talk this over with your baker!

 

The Crowd Takes The Cake

Once the cake has been cut, the catering staff will take the cake into the kitchen to slice for the rest for your guests. If you are cutting the cake yourself, please refer to Chantal’s Cake Cutting Tips above.  Numerous of couples froze their top layer; however, now-a-days couples are choosing to do away with this tradition. Be sure to talk this over with your baker!

Love comes through the stomach! Knock your Valentine’s pants 👖 off … perfect for day or night💏! The perfect love hang  over!

Cut it like you want it; eat it like you need it.” Firm and moist, that is how I like it! Ooouuu, you are so damn good!! I crave it all day not just on Valentine’s Day. Anytime, anyplace; I CAN NOT sleep until I get some! No off brand will do, I am stuck on you like glue. I will skip dinner for a piece.

When I really get to going I like it when you whip this batter a bit. Just enough to show it who’s boss. It is hard to explain but for some reason it just does something to me! Make it rise baby and bake me off!

I love your multiple layers. I can taste your rich creamy center; it is not what is on the outside that counts. My favorite is white custard as it is not too rich. Mmm… mmm it is finger licking good! It is the perfect combination of sweet-depth.

My cake is on the verge of dangerously falling; use ganache, as it stiffens when the melted chocolate begins to set.  But, please do not fill my cake with all your buttercream, it is a bit of an overload! Save some for another time.

Drizzle it baby!

Put all the drizzle on it….blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, caramelized apples, mangoes and passion fruit and pour it all over your cake! Send me to flavor town with your mixture.

Happy NEW YEAR! I am so happy it is 2018! Only four months until the big Las Vegas Championship completion! Someone please pinch me, I get to compete in the Food Network kitchen Mother’s Day weekend! OMG, how exciting is that! It is amazing how God places you in the moment, right where you need to be!

Do you remember?

Vision boards really work!!! Who would of thought the night my coach Shaniece M. Wise  (who is amazing if you are in need of a business or personal development coach)  gave me the homework assignment of completing a vision board. Who would of imagined what was going to happen next!

Jul 22, 2017 ( two days before my birthday)…I looked at you hanging on my wall every day and night!  I want the first time to be special – history making. It had to be an event like no other, to remember for the rest of my life. The perfect moment of time, capturing every sweet twist and turn. I have creamed so many cakes before this moment- but none of them seem to matter. Only this one matters now…

The only thing that matter is concurring this cake in this moment. This cake is special, it is different. This cake can change my life, this is the cake I have worked and sacrificed so much for. Time to plan and prepare, I have to get this right!

Another round, my heart is pounding and my hands are shaking. Round Two….Black & White….5, 4, 3, 2, 1 … Oh Lord! Your sweet aroma pulls me back to reality. I must put it down not matter what happens. I must…..just then I hear 5, 4, 3, 2, 1…. STOP!

The most action packed 5 minutes of life… it felt like 60 seconds. I kept telling myself “no what, get it decorated!” I moved my hands across and round that cake controlling its every bend and twisted turn. Hand placing every pearl and rose!

Leave it all on the table… I gave my heart on this table. Giving you cake to remember my name! I want you to never forget this cake, so when someone mentions me or cake. I want to your think back to this day and this cake! I want my cake to be loved and spread all over the world one slice at a time!

That moment it happened… breathe taking! Time froze I could not move, glued to your every word. Did you really call my name, I was floored! Paralyzed, with a million thoughts running through my head; however, no words will come out. Finally, a word… “never give up, especially on yourself!”

Can you believe it… I have been crowned as the 2017 Ohio Cupcake Queen 👑 America’s Best Bakers !!!! What away to celebrate my birthday weekend!! I have been blessed with the opportunity to go to Vegas, to compete on the National level in front of Food Network judges ( click the video to see how it all happened). I love when you take your strong masculine hands around my essence finding my creamy interior. Engraved in to this fabulous body of ripened full-body art. I am your canvas, paint me to your desire. Please only touch if you are ready to eat a it. Take a slice of this cake and devour it, allowing my flavor to bounce on your taste buds. This not your average cake, you will not find another like it anywhere else. This cake is the BEST, PERIOD!

 

 

This cake may lack gluten but it still is packing full flavor. So please get ready to receive all of my cake. Since you know it will bother your allergies  get ready to take all of this cake. Be careful as you may fall in love with this cake. This cake is liable to have you looking for it in the daytime with a flashlight and a map! Lost without it.

Let’s make music and turn up the temperature; make it rise baby! Spread my cake open. Filling the center with all your ingredients and intertwine them into my layers. Fill my cake up completely with all of your filling. Do you like to use butter cream or gauche? I love all of your sweet velvet flavors- I don’t mind…give it all to me. I want to connect with your soul, taking all of your color and spices. Intimately expose yourself to me. As I will gladly receive you in my warm moist cake.

Slowly, let your warm glaze  coat all over this cake. Working the glaze out all over your canvas, not stopping until I get you smoothly covered! Around, around, up, down, and all over again! Do not forget there is a back side and it too must be glazed! Oh, this anticipation is becoming too much. I do not want to wait any longer …give it to me NOW! I brought my own towel…

The Chronicles of the Obscenest Baker: Christmas Caking!

WARNING: “For the Grown and Cake Lovers Only”

Will you do me the favor of filling my cake with your Christmas flavor? I want to make this cake scream “Christmas” that is right a Chantal Christmas. Add some sugar to your butter and crème them together. Take control whip this butter and whip it good.  Because when I eat your butter I want it to be creamed with a hint of sweetness.

Now  that you creamed the butter and sugar together, add all of your cocoa make this crème chocolate. Keep going until your bowl is coated with “cocoa butter”.  Combine all you dry ingredients with  your wet and mix well until a cake batter is formed.  Make sure you are protecting your pan and properly coat it, line it well! Protection of your pain is very important to prevent the cake from sticking to the pan.

Fill your pan 2/3 full with cake batter, open the oven…Make it HOT; Bake This Cake!

Let’s Bake! Close the door, TENDERLY!!

This could cause premature releasing of the air bubbles in the cake during the baking process. Stick to the cooking time. Halfway through rotate your cake 180 degrees. Bake it evenly! Once your time is up and the cake has risen. Insert your wooden stick directly into the center of the warm cake and pull it out. If your stick does not come out clean- your cake is not ready. Put it back in quickly! If your stick comes out clean- your cake is done and you can remove it from the oven.

Let’s make a toast to many more years of caking it! Fill the cupcakes with as much rum as it can with-hold. These chocolate cakes with be drunken with your essence. Keep your cake moist, so it will be easier to ice later. Besides I do not serve dry cake, let’s face it no one wants dry cake. Moist cake is much more enjoyable! This season I want you to enjoy my cake  Holiday Season long! Make it last forever!

Of coarse you have no other choice but top off this cake with your eggnog buttercream. This buttercream is not only light and fluffy nut it packs a flavor full of Christmas cheer. One bite will have you wanting to sing  Christmas Chorales aloud  all day long for everyone to hear you. Bet you can not eat just one cake; allow me to fill your mouth. My aroma is on your breathe- stronger than alcohol, every inhale and exhale will remind you of me and all this good-good. One taste will have you begging to come back for another bite. “Just one more bite”, you will beg.

How can I deny you, when I want to give you this cake as much as you want me too. Please promise you will honor and respect this cake as I put in extra work for you. All this caking is you, so back relax your mind and enjoy your cake, one layer at a time. Slowly, devour this cake. Getting to know every crumb as if it was the last. This cake will be the best you ever had.

This Holiday cake is the perfect combo of intoxicating sweet and nutty! Smooth but crunchy in all the right places. It is the perfect size, filling my mouth to its max with your chocolate richness. Oh yes! I love your dark cocoa color and sweet flavor. My bitter-sweet, forever chocolate; you heighten my senses, swelling the room with your heavenly aroma. Please let me eat you. Your sweet juiciness keep me wanting more and more until you are gone. Although, you can be a bit overwhelming (to the unprepared) but whenever you are done correctly – you get it right every time! Perfectly combining your  nature with a touch of  nutty sweetness … one taste and OH, my taste buds are doing a happy dance!” My own personal “Now & Later“- to savor every bite as if it was my last time. Made from scratch and covered with toppings. Stick to your recipe as each cake is not the same. This recipe calls for EXTRA nuts! I love velvety chocolate caramel nuts. Cover the cake with everything you got. Who knows you may get an extra gift this Christmas.

Get It…!!!

No adlib, stick to my cooking time. Midway through baking rotate this cake 180 degrees. That is right, flip this cake around! Make sure the cake is baked evenly! Once your time is up and the cake has risen. Insert your wooden stick directly into the center of the warm cake and pull it out. If your stick does not come out clean- your cake is not ready. Put it back in quickly! If your stick comes out clean- your cake is done and you can remove it from the oven.

The 2017 America’s Best Bakers Ohio Queen; Chantal considers herself the “Soul Baker”. She is a baker, mother, cook, poet and instructor.
